The Magnolia Baseball Club (MBC) was founded by Karen and Jamie Moyer. The mission is to bring baseball back to the neighborhood. The goal is to develop young men using the game of baseball as a tool for preparation in the areas of teamwork and life. The commitment from the coaches, players and parents to the team they are involved with is much more than just playing a baseball game. RESPECT, LOYALTY, ETHICS, SPORTSMANSHIP, and COMMITMENT make up the Magnolia Baseball Club. MBC sponsors four teams; a 13 and 14 year old team to compete in the Washington State Sandy Koufax League and a 15 and 16 year old team to compete in the Washington State Mickey Mantle League. It is our goal to keep kids from the 13’s through the 16’s each year. MBC is a fully insured, incorporated non-profit organization. A community service project will be a part of each team's season. Coaches are hired on experience and common mission. (Full background checks are conducted). **Parent drivers will need to supply a copy of driver's license and auto insurance. Rules will follow the Official Handbook of the American Amateur Baseball Association. 2007 Community Service Projects Sharing The Game of Baseball This summer MBC hosted the first Magnolia Summer Classic weekend tournaments for the 13U and 14U age groups. During these two weekends MBC players, families and friends sold concessions and tournament t-shirts as a fundraiser. Magnolia Baseball Club was proud to present a donation totaling $2,681.91 to the Rainier Vista Boys & Girls Club's RBI Baseball Program; dedicated to "Rebuilding Baseball in Inner Cities." On behalf of all players, parents and coaches of MBC, thank you Rainier Vista Boys & Girls Club for helping us share the game of baseball with kids around our city! Serving Our Community On a Saturday afternoon this spring, over 50 players, families and coaches of MBC teams gathered at Washington State's only statewide hunger relief agency, Northwest Harvest. NW Harvest's mission is fighting hunger in Washington State in a manner that respects the dignity of those they serve and MBC was ready to help! The coordinators of NW Harvest met with the MBC group and gave them the job of separating a bulk supply of beans into portions for individuals and families. The team worked hard to organize and stack pallets full of food for families in need. There was such a great turnout that NW Harvest happily sent the group home early because all had been accomplished for the day! Helping Our Environment Over a six month period the MBC 13U Red Team collected old cell phones and used ink jet cartridges to be recycled through a program called Phoneraisers. Phoneraisers is an environmental fundraising company that safely recycles or disposes of these items while allowing groups to raise funds. MBC's 13U Red team donated the $170.48 raised to The Moyer Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps children in severe distress. The Magnolia Baseball Club is a registered 501©3 publicly supported non-profit organization, which provides donor contributions deductions under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. |
